Breaking through the glass ceiling is greatly facilitated when women help other women gain entrance and momentum through the career pipeline. Formal and informal networks are critical for paving the way. NCRW’s Corporate Circle fosters networking among corporate leaders to help them strategize, navigate career paths and develop leadership skills, as well as build new relationships and partnerships across companies and industries. NCRW’s Emerging Leaders Network is another initiative that is reinforcing relationships among young professionals. Our networks can be particularly useful across sectors bringing the latest data, trends and analysis to decision-makers and future leaders.

Learning the Importance of Reciprocity in Networking

On Tuesday, March 13, the Emerging Leaders Network of the National Council for Research on Women and Philanthropy New York hosted The Nuts, Bolts & Art of Networking, a hands on networking workshop facilitated by David Schachter. Held at the offices of Philanthropy New York, and co-sponsored by NYU’s Wagner Women’s Caucus, the event featured a number of exercises in which participants paired up with one another, in an effort to engage in what Schachter calls the reciprocity of networking.

Thinking big: how to accelerate the growth of women-owned companies

The Ernst & Young study, based on Babson College Center for Women’s Leadership research, revealed that four years into the Entrepreneurial Winning Women Program, it is a model that can spur dramatic growth. Program participants’ companies have grown almost 50 percent each year on average, with a corresponding average annual job growth rate of more than 25 percent.
